Why do the first days after an injury matter so much?
Evidence can disappear, coverage can be misunderstood, statements can be given without strategy, and offers can come before the case value is known.
Your case isn't paperwork. It needs investigation, strategy, and judgment from the start.
Can a lawyer find insurance coverage I did not know about?
Often, yes. There may be UM, stacked UM, MedPay, commercial, premises, umbrella, or excess coverage, or coverage through another defendant.
This isn't just an auto issue. In slip and fall cases, coverage may run to the property owner, tenant, maintenance company, cleaning company, or security company. In rideshare and delivery cases, it can depend on timing, app status, and policy language.
What should be evaluated before settling?
Liability, comparative fault, aggravating facts, treatment and future care, lost wages, permanent impairment, all coverage, liens, UM claims, and other defendants.
A premature settlement can permanently damage a case, especially if releasing one party harms a claim against another.
Does my lawyer handle liens and medical bills?
It should. Medical bills, liens, health insurance, MedPay, and subrogation claims directly affect what you take home.
The Florida Supreme Court has said that lawyers handling personal injury cases on a contingency fee should, "as part of the representation, also represent the client in resolving medical liens and subrogation claims," at "no additional charge to the client beyond the maximum contingency fee." In re Amendments to Rule Regulating The Florida Bar 4-1.5, No. SC16-104 (Fla. 2016). That work shouldn't be an afterthought.
What questions should my lawyer be asking?
Who is responsible, what evidence must be preserved, what coverage exists, and whether the case is ready for litigation.
- Who are all the responsible parties?
- Was UM coverage properly rejected? Is there stacked coverage or MedPay?
- Should health insurance be used, and are liens being handled?
- Are there aggravating liability facts?
- Is the case ready for litigation, or is settlement premature?

Common questions
When should I call a personal injury lawyer?
As soon as you can after getting medical care. Early calls protect evidence and coverage.
What if my case is already months old?
It is not too late to get an attorney actively involved. I can review the file and look for what has been missed.
Why should I call Attorney Albert?
If your lawyer isn't communicating, your case is with a case manager, it's delayed, or your injuries are being minimized, I can take over, demand your file, and move quickly to protect your claim.
